1. Native Habitat Network Reaches 187,000 Acres
Homegrown National Park now has more than 52,000 registered participants tending over 187,000 acres, according to Reasons to be Cheerful. The nonprofit encourages people to replace conventional lawns with native habitat and register their efforts on a nationwide map. On cofounder Doug Tallamy’s Pennsylvania property, he has documented more than 1,380 moth species and 62 breeding bird species after restoring native plants.

OpenAI has published an AI-generated proof that it says resolves the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, a longstanding question about fluid motion. A written explanation and a formal version in the Lean proof assistant are publicly available for examination. The work describes how initially smooth fluid motion, subject to a smooth external force, can develop a singularity while its energy remains finite.

3. Researchers Document Dolphins’ Shell-Fishing Skills
Researchers have filmed bottlenose dolphins off Australia’s east coast trapping fish inside empty sea-snail shells, documenting a technique previously recorded only in western Australia. The observations extend knowledge of dolphin behavior, with researchers suspecting that the technique developed independently on the two coasts.
